SSB SI Recruitment 2026: The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has released an official advertisement to recruit eligible candidates for the posts of Sub Inspector (Staff Nurse, Pioneer, & Communication). The Directorate General Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has published Advt. No. 524/RC/SSB/Combined Advt./CT to SI (Non-GD)/2025. The SSB Sub Inspector Recruitment 2026 drive is being conducted to fill 51 Group-‘B’ Non-Gazetted (Combatised) & Non-Ministerial vacancies. The SSB SI Apply Online 2026 window will remain open from 21st March 2026 to 20th April 2026. Selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India or outside the territory of India.

Salary Structure

All the above posts carry a Pay Scale of Level-6 (Rs. 35,400 – 1,12,400) in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th CPC. Candidates will also receive Dearness Allowance, Ration Money Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and other allowances as admissible in SSB from time to time.

Eligibility Criteria for SSB Sub Inspector Recruitment

Candidates must carefully ensure they possess the necessary educational qualifications and fall within the required age bracket before the closing date.

1. Age Limit (as on Closing Date of Application)

• SI (Staff Nurse): Not exceeding 30 years of age.
• SI (Pioneer): Not exceeding 30 years of age.
• SI (Communication): Not exceeding 30 years of age.
• Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 3 years after deduction of military service for Ex-Servicemen. Departmental candidates receive up to 5 years of age relaxation.

2. Educational & Professional Qualifications

• Sub-Inspector (Staff Nurse):
  (a) 12th class pass from a recognized Board/University.
  (b) Diploma (Three years / Three & half years) in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) recognized by Central/State nursing council.
  (c) Registered with Central/State nursing council as a General Nurse and Mid-wife.
• Sub-Inspector (Pioneer): Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or institute.
• Sub-Inspector (Communication): Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication OR Computer Science OR Information Technology Engineering OR Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized University or institutes.

The examination fee must be paid online via net-banking/ credit card/ debit card/UPI. It is Non-Refundable.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The selection process for the SSB Sub Inspector posts will involve Physical Tests (PET/PST), a Written Examination, Document Verification (DV), and a Detailed Medical Examination (DME).

Phase I: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)

Note: NO Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be conducted for the post of Sub Inspector (Staff Nurse) & Sub Inspector (Pioneer).

PET (For Sub Inspector – Communication ONLY):

• Male: 1.6 Kms in 6 Minutes 30 Seconds
• Female: 800 Meter race in 4 minutes

PST (Physical Standard Test) for All Posts:

Phase II: Written Examination (Computer Based Test)

Candidates qualifying in the PST will appear for the Written Examination.

• Common Entrance Test (Paper-I): 3 hours duration, 150 marks, consisting of 150 multiple choice objective type questions.
• Part-I (50 Marks): General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, General English/General Hindi.
• Part-II (100 Marks): Technical Subject (Domain Knowledge).
• Minimum Qualifying Marks: 50% for Gen, EWS, OBC & Ex-SM. 45% for SC and ST.
