RRB NTPC Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 12th (+2 Stage) or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. The 50% marks requirement is not insisted upon for SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen or for candidates who possess qualifications higher than 12th (+2 Stage). Candidates awaiting their final results are **NOT** eligible to apply.
  • Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026): The age limit is 18 to 30 years. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (NCL), and 10 years for PwBD candidates.
  • Medical Standards: Candidates must meet the specific medical standards for their chosen posts.
    • A-3: (Trains Clerk) – Physically fit, Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses (power not to exceed 2D). Must pass tests for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, etc.
    • B-2: (Commercial cum Ticket Clerk) – Physically fit, Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power not to exceed 4D).
    • C-2: (Accounts Clerk, Junior Clerk) – Physically fit, Distant Vision: 6/12, Nil with or without glasses.
    • Important Note: Candidates who have undergone Lasik or other corrective eye surgery are **not eligible** for the post of Trains Clerk (A-3 Medical Standard).

RRB NTPC Selection Process

The recruitment process consists of the following stages:

  1. 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): A common screening test for all posts.
    • Subjects: Mathematics (30), General Intelligence & Reasoning (30), General Awareness (40).
    • Total Questions: 100 | Duration: 90 minutes.
    • Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
    • Normalization: Marks will be normalized for tests held in multiple shifts.
  2. 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): Candidates will be shortlisted for the 2nd Stage CBT based on their normalized marks from the 1st Stage CBT, at a rate of 15 times the vacancies.
    • Subjects: Mathematics (35), General Intelligence & Reasoning (35), General Awareness (50).
    • Total Questions: 120 | Duration: 90 minutes.
    • Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark.
  3. Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST):
    • Applicable for Junior Clerk cum Typist and Accounts Clerk cum Typist.
    • This test is qualifying in nature.
    • Candidates must be able to type 30 words per minute (WPM) in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on a computer without editing tools.
    • Candidates will be called for CBTST at 8 times the number of vacancies.
  4. Document Verification (DV) and Medical Examination: Candidates who qualify in the 2nd Stage CBT (and CBTST, where applicable) will be called for DV and a medical examination in a 1:1 ratio against the vacancies.

The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the 2nd Stage CBT. Candidates must pass the Skill Test and Medical Examination to be considered for empanelment.

RRB NTPC Application Fee

  • For all candidates (except fee concession categories): ₹500/- (An amount of ₹400/- will be refunded after appearing in the 1st Stage CBT).
  • For SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minorities, and EBC candidates: ₹250/- (This entire amount will be refunded after appearing in the 1st Stage CBT).

To get the refund, candidates must attend the 1st Stage CBT and provide valid bank account details.

How to Apply RRB NTPC Under-Graduate Recruitment 2025

Candidates can apply online through the official website of any one RRB of their choice.

  1. Create an Account: First, candidates must create an account on the RRB portal using the ‘Create an Account’ link. If you already have an account from a previous RRB recruitment, you can use the same credentials.
  2. Live Photo Capture: During the application, a live photo will be captured via webcam or your mobile’s front camera. You must be in non-white clothing against a plain background. Do not wear a cap, mask, or glasses.
  3. Upload Documents: You will need to upload a scanned copy of your signature (30-49 KB) and, if applicable, your SC/ST certificate (up to 400 KB PDF) to avail the free travel pass.
  4. One RRB Only: You can apply to only one RRB. Submitting multiple applications to different RRBs will lead to the rejection of all your applications.
  5. Modification Fee:RRB NTPC Under-Graduate Recruitment 2025 If you need to make corrections (except for ‘Create an Account’ details and your chosen RRB) after submission, you can do so during the modification window by paying a fee of ₹250/-.
