SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process for the Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR) in the Medical Branch of the Indian Navy involves two main stages:

Stage I: Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET)

  1. Online Application: Candidates must apply online during the specified application window.
  2. Computer-Based Test:
    • The test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, covering English, Science, Biology, and General Awareness.
    • The duration is one hour, and the standard is based on the 10+2 syllabus.
    • Negative marking applies, with 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer.
  3. Shortlisting: Based on INET scores, candidates are shortlisted for Stage II. The cut-off marks may vary by state.

Stage II: Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Written Exam, and Medical Examination

  1. Physical Fitness Test (PFT):
    • Includes a 1.6 km run (to be completed in 6 minutes 30 seconds), 20 squats, 15 push-ups, and 15 bent-knee sit-ups.
  2. Written Examination:
    • Conducted for candidates who qualify the PFT.
    • Similar format to Stage I, with 100 multiple-choice questions.
  3. Recruitment Medical Examination:
    • Candidates undergo a medical examination to ensure they meet the required physical and mental health standards.

Provisional Selection and Training

  • A merit list is prepared based on performance in Stage II, subject to qualification in PFT and medical exams.
